Wierd hardware issues

I just bought 2 identical system barebones kits from TigerDirect (yes, I know). I put both together and installed XP one the first with no problem. The second one booted the XP CD and chugged along until the setup process wanted me to hit a key to install. As I was reaching for the keyboard and before I touched anything, the system suddenly went off. Not quite off, the power LED was still on, but all power was disconnected. I had to unplug it in order to get it to respond to the switch again. The same thing 2 more times.

I took the drive from the first machine and put it in the second machine and booted. It came up in XP like normal. I then installed the other hard drive in the first machine and installed XP without a problem.

Questions:
Do I trust the second machine?
Anyone got a clue what happened?

[Update]

Finally figured out that the second (not-working) system had the CPU fan on backwards, which caused it not to cool as well as required, which led to the shutdown issues.
